Ms. Rapscott’s Girls (2015)
story and pictures by Elise Primavera

Picture
Ms. Rapscott runs a school for girls of busy parents from her lighthouse with the help of her two corgis assistants, Lewis and Clark.

There is no need to apply to Ms. Rapscott’s school. If you are one of the busiest parents on earth your daughter is automatically accepted. Just place her in the box that will come and close the flaps…properly.
The first semester’s lesson is How to Find Your Way which the students do by Getting Lost on Purpose. As part of the curriculum they are also required to find their missing classmate who fell out of her box because her parents were too busy to seal it properly.

By the end of the story the girls have learned many things including what a birthday cake is, how to cross the street without getting squashed, and to never drink water from a pond. They also find out that there is so much more to them than just being girls of busy parents.

Praise for Ms. Rapscott’s Girls
  • Starred review Booklist: “Almost best of all are Primavera’s fanciful pencil illustrations, featuring two of the most delightful (if silent) of the book’s characters, Lewis and Clark, turtlenecked corgis that efficiently manage the girls and their hair-raising adventures. A plucky, invigorating romp with more adventures on the horizon.”
